The Biddy Basketball League will hold a meeting at 6:30 p.m. May 22 at Andrews Gym.
A tournament will be held Aug. 9 at Andrews, and league play begins Aug. 11 at Andrews for ages 5-6 and 7-8.
Entry fee is $50 per teams and space is limited to 12 teams per division.

• Andrews is looking for boys and girls between the ages of 7-14 to participate in a youth volleyball league.
Practices will start at 3:30 p.m. May 15, and all kekei wanting to play will be accepted.
Coach’s workshop
at Paauilo Gym
The Department of Parks and Recreation and the Positive Coaching Alliance is offering a Developing Triple Impact Competitors workshop May 21 at the Paauilo Gym Annex.
Registration begins at 5:30, and the workshop follows from 6-8 p.m and is free to the first 30 participants.

Waiakea swimmers
honored for grades
The National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association of America awarded Waiakea High boys swimming with a Silver Scholar award for its 3.57 grade point average.
On the team were Jin Harbour, Kai Hendershott, Adam Hill, Drew Holloway, Spencer Jobes, Daniel Kimura, Noah Kimura, Ren Kuwaye-Tamanaha, Felix Peng, Ben Poppas, Gavin Sako and Teddy Uekawa.
Harbour, Kuwaye-Tamanaha, Carly Belcher, Katrina Ombac and Kaycie Tomei were recognized as Academic All-Americans for maintaining GPAs above 3.75 GPA.
Police department race benefit set
The inaugural “Run To Honor” 5K run/2-mile walk/Keiki Fun Run will be May 17 at Liliuokalani Gardens in Hilo.
The run and walk start at 8:30 a.m., with check-in and registration 7 to 8 a.m. Entry fee is $25.
The Keiki Fun Run, for ages 6 to 14, starts at 9:30 a.m., with check-in and registration 7 to 9:15 a.m. The Fun Run is free.
T-shirts are included, and there will be food, entertainment and keiki activities.

Registration for Hilo’s triathlon
Hilo’s first official triathlon will start at 7 a.m. July 13 at James Kealoha Beach Park.
The Olympic-distance race — 1.5-km swim, 40-km bike ride and 10-km run — is limited to 500 participants.
Registration is $150 through May 30 and $175 to midnight June 30.
